These embroidered knitting patterns are fabulous Katherine. Why is it that masking a face in this way immediately makes an image creepy? It's so great that you have your blog up and running again so that I can check in and see your latest wonderful creations. Yay!

ReplyDeletecheers Bron, I know what you mean about the creepy, are we so attached to seeing faces - when I changed my profile picture to the stitched one Google asked me was I sure that I wanted to use it as there was no recognisable face in the image. take that facial regogition technology.
ReplyDeleteCome and visit us down here in Wanganui some time - Im sure theres a ghost or three here and we have the best op shops (shhhhh dont tell). lovely to hear from you, xx
Yay - I've just bought 'Kaiapoi Montrose' and 'New Era'. I'm very excited. They are going to look so cool in among my collection of lovelies!
ReplyDeletewow thats so cool Bronwyn, The Rayner Brothers have been so awesome with their support with this show. I hope they look fab with your other stuff, when you see them up close you will see the intricasy of the stitches. Im now working on a larger piece responding to thinking further about facial pattern recognition, it may take me some time to complete. I also have a whole Fontana series that I want to do, their patterns are slightly longer that the ones I used in this show and would look fab together. just need somewhere to show them later in the year...take care
ReplyDeleteYou could send a proposal for an exhibition of the Fontana pieces in the window gallery at Objectspace. It would be great for Aucklanders' to get to see your work!
DeleteI might just do that, thanks for the suggestion, I am looking forward to stitching up the fontana ones, just doing some more kaiapoi, shepherd and aotea ones but there is something special about the fontanas. xx
